This Pool Noodle Trick Is A Clever Way To Protect Your Fishing Pole
Fishing is one of those hobbies that can either be completely relaxing and rejuvenating or a thrilling adventure as you chase down a large catch. But whether you like to drop your line at one of the most dangerous spots to fish in the world or simply at your local pond, you probably have broken a few fishing poles in car doors or against ceiling fans in the past. Nothing is more frustrating than planning a fishing trip but ending up with a broken pole before you even get on the water. Luckily, there is a simple solution for this: using a foam pool noodle to protect your rods.
The reason this hack works so well is that you probably already have an old pool noodle at home, and if you don't, they are inexpensive and easy to find. Plus, they are made of the perfect soft and flexible but firm foamy material that will keep your poles from getting damaged during the car ride to the lake or in the boat as you coast over rough waters. This is especially important because fishing (particularly deep-water fishing) is one of those sports that are more expensive than you think. Because of this, if you have a pricey fishing pole or just a lucky one you don't want to lose, a pool noodle is your best friend. So, how do you do it?
Protecting your poles with a foam noodle
Although this hack sounds pretty simple, there are actually a few different ways you can use a foam noodle to protect your fishing poles. If you'd like to protect your entire pole, you can buy a pool noodle with a hole in the center and then slide the noodle over your whole fishing rod. If you have a pool noodle with no hole in the center, you can simply make one long cut from the top of the noodle to the bottom about halfway through the foam. This will allow you to open the noodle up from the side and then slide your pole inside.
If you'd just like to protect the end of your poles, you can cut off a smaller section of a noodle (just enough to cover the end) and slip that over the top of your rod. You can even put the tips of multiple fishing poles into the same short piece of pool noodle to protect all of them at once.
No matter which method you choose, if you have a pool noodle with a hole in the center, your fishing pole will probably be a little loose inside the noodle and may slip through. To solve this issue, you can close the top end of the noodle by tightening a zip tie around it.
